Fundraising in the Time of COVID
Fundraising isn’t easy. Add in a worldwide pandemic and it makes it even more difficult. Yet, for our nonprofits to survive, and THRIVE, we must continue to raise funds for our organization.
But the question becomes, HOW do we fundraise now? How can we go to donors and ask them for money when this is such a chaotic and stressful time? The answer: because we must.
Our organizations, our clients, our communities, depend on us. And donors want to help. We have to get out of the mindset of thinking that we are begging when we raise funds for our organizations.
Donors give because they want to, not because they are forced. When they see the good works of an organization, the positive impact it is having, they want to join in that movement. Give them that opportunity. Don’t go to donors pleading for money- ask them to join with you to further your mission. Share your vision. Now, more than ever, we need their support. Share what you have done, and how you continue to serve, during COVID.
Almost all organizations have had to augment services to continue their programs, but very few donors probably know this.
Tell them. Share a story of a client that you were able to serve during the pandemic and why it is so important for your organization to continue working during this time. I think that you will find a lot of willing, and excited, supporters out there that want to see you continue and grow!
